Babool
Babool (Acacia nilotica) is also known as the “Healing Tree”. It belongs to the family Leguminosae. All parts of this plant are used (bark, root, gum, leaves, pod, seeds) for medicinal purposes. It helps in the treatment of diabetes, skin diseases, and leukorrhea (yellowish discharge of mucus from the vagina). The tender twigs are used as toothbrushes while the thorns (Katte) are used to treat joints pains. The gum is also used to treat diarrhoea, dysentery, diabetes and dry cough. It also possesses antidiarrhoeal, antidysenteric, antidiabetic, antiasthmatic analgesic and anthelmintic properties[1-3],.
