Fungal skin infections are commonly caused by yeasts dermatophytes. Some examples of skin infections caused by fungus are candida, ringworm, jock itch, etc. Having a weak immune system, taking antibiotics, diabetes, cancer treatment, etc. increases the risk of contracting a fungal skin infection.
