Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet is used to treat and prevent heart-related chest pain (angina). Angina occurs when the heart muscle is not getting enough blood. This medicine works by relaxing and widening blood vessels so blood can flow more easily to the heart.

Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet helps in prevention as well as treatment of angina. Angina is a chest pain that is usually caused by narrowing of the blood vessels which supply your heart. This means your heart does not get enough oxygen. Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet works quickly to relax the muscles and blood vessels in your heart so more blood (and oxygen) gets to your heart. This reduces the pain and discomfort that angina causes.
You should take this medicine at the first sign of chest pain. If the first tablet does not work, you can take a second tablet after 5 minutes. However, if your chest pain does not go away after 15 minutes, you should get urgent medical attention. This could be a sign of a heart attack. Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet also helps prevent chest pain if taken before exercising or doing other strenuous activities.

Side effects of Angivex Tablet CR

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

How to use Angivex Tablet CR

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Angivex Tablet CR works

Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet is a nitrate. It works by relaxing the blood vessels and increasing the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart while reducing its work load, thereby preventing/treating attacks of angina (chest pain).

Consuming alcohol while taking Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).

Pregnancy

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving

UNSAFE

Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Liver

Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires concentration until you know how it affects you.
Do not consume alcohol while taking Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet as it may cause increased dizziness.
It may cause headaches which usually go away after a few days of continued treatment. Inform your doctor if it persists.
You may develop tolerance to Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet with time, meaning that the same dose may be less effective next time. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule to avoid this.
Stop taking medications (prescribed for erectile dysfunction) like sildenafil or tadalafil while on treatment with Angivex 2.6 SR Tablet as it may cause low blood pressure.
