I was heard Sinclair's Naltrexone treatment is a better method for alcohol addiction. How long the therapy should be for complete cure?Or other treatments like disulfiram can be administered would be better than that?
Dr. Jyoti Kapoor Madan
Psychiatry
Naltrexone reduces the reward feeling of alcohol thus reducing its craving. Treatment needs to continue for 3-6 months along with psychotherapy. Disulfiram causes physical reaction to alcohol thereby causing aversion to use of alcohol. There is no evidence as to what is better than other but disulfiram only causes aversion and causes f patient doesn't take it, the aversive effects no longer occur.
I feel aversion to the light and noise. Not comfortable in the evening and when I wear a plain glass it seems to be ok. Kindly advise
