Respiratory tract infections are those infections that can affect the sinuses, throat, airways or lungs. Btpod CV Syrup contains two different medicines, Cefpodoxime Proxetil and Clavulanic Acid, that work together to kill the bacteria that cause respiratory tract infections. Cefpodoxime Proxetil works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefpodoxime Proxetil against bacteria.

It usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

How to use Btpod CV Syrup

How Btpod CV Syrup works

Btpod CV Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Cefpodoxime Proxetil and Clavulanic Acid. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefpodoxime Proxetil against bacteria.

Btpod CV Syrup may cause side effects such as allergic reactions, dizziness or fits that may make you unfit to drive.

Kidney

Btpod CV Syrup is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Btpod CV Syrup is recommended.
However, dose modifications may be required in children with severe kidney disease. Consult with your doctor.

Liver

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Btpod CV Syrup is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of Btpod CV Syrup is recommended.
However, consult with your child’s doctor before giving Btpod CV Syrup to your child in case of a severe form of liver disease.

What if you forget to take Btpod CV Syrup?

Do not panic. Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule and do not give the double dose to catch up.

Quick tips

Complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Btpod CV Syrup may cause a bitter taste. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help.
Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
Never give Btpod CV Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. You must also never share your child’s medicine with anyone else even if they show similar symptoms.
Do not give Btpod CV Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses.
Stop Btpod CV Syrup immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty. Report to the doctor without any delay.

Monitor temp. If child has fever place a cool, damp washcloth on your child's forehead. Give your child a lukewarm tub bath or a sponge bath. Give a sponge bath as follows: - ? Use lukewarm water [90?F (32.2?C) to 95?F (35?C)]. Do not use cold water, ice, or rubbing alcohol, which will lower the child's body temperature too quickly. ? Sponge for 20 to 30 minutes. ? Stop if the child starts to shiver. If your child doesn't like the sponge bath or doesn't feel better after the bath, there is no need to give another one.
