Grafalon Injection is used with other medications to prevent organ transplant rejection. Rejection usually happens due to attack by the immune system of the person receiving the transplanted organ on the transplant itself, in people who are receiving any organ transplants, like kidney, liver, heart etc. This medicine reduces the activity of a person's own immune system and prevents any such rejection.

Q. What should you inform your doctor before taking Grafalon Injection?
Before taking this medicine you should tell your doctor if you have a history of hypersensitivity or any active or chronic infections.
Q. In what cases use of Grafalon Injection should be stopped?
The use of Grafalon Injection should be stopped immediately in case of anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction), thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), pain in the chest, respiratory distress (fluid build-up in the lungs), and hemolysis (rupture of red blood cells).
Q. Can I take live vaccines before or after taking Grafalon Injection?
You should avoid taking live vaccines if you are about to receive, receiving or after treatment with Grafalon Injection. Concomitant administration of this medicine with live virus vaccines may interfere with the treatment. It also carries a potential of uncontrolled viral replication in case you have weak immunity.
Q. Can treatment with Grafalon Injection cause low platelet or white blood cell count?
Yes, this medicine can reduce the number of platelets or white blood cells in your body. If your platelet count falls between 50,000-75,000 cells/mm3 or if the white blood cell count is between 2,000-3,000 cells/mm3, then your doctor might reduce the dosage of your medicine till counts have either stabilized or returned to pretreatment levels. Frequent platelet and white blood cell counts during therapy are recommended to assist in decisions regarding dosage modifications.
Q. Should I avoid any foods, drinks while taking Grafalon Injection?
There are no such interactions of Grafalon Injection with food and drinks. In case of any doubt, it is better to consult your doctor.
