Gramonex C Oral Suspension is given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections. These infections may include genital tract infections, urinary tract infections, and gastrointestinal infections, including diarrhea, dysentery, peritonitis, and appendicitis.

This medicine helps clear up the infection by stopping the bacteria from multiplying and growing. In most cases, the infection starts showing improvement within 3 to 5 days of regular dosing. However, you must still finish the full course of the medicine. Stopping it abruptly may worsen your child’s condition or cause infection recurrence.

In Treatment of Parasitic infections

Gramonex C Oral Suspension is also used to treat parasitic infections such as amoebic dysentery, amoebic liver abscess, trichomoniasis, and giardiasis. It works by stopping the growth of parasites causing the infection. As a result of this, your child’s infection is treated.

Quick tips

If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water.
Gramonex C Oral Suspension may cause an altered taste. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help.
Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Gramonex C Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
Your child must complete the entire course of Gramonex C Oral Suspension. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Discontinue Gramonex C Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing.

It is advised that you get your child’s G6PD deficiency evaluated before starting the course of treatment. Avoid giving Gramonex C Oral Suspension as deficiency of G6PD enzymes can lead to breaking of blood cells resulting in severe anemia.

Q. What if I give excess Gramonex C Oral Suspension by mistake?

An extra dose of Gramonex C Oral Suspension is unlikely to cause any harm. But, you must still be vigilant because overdose increases the risk of unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat.
