Imox Clo Tablet DT is a medicine given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections, especially the ones which are suspected to be caused due to resistant bacteria. These infections may include otitis media (ear infection), rhinosinusitis (sinus infection), tonsillitis (infection of tonsils), dental abscess (tooth infection), pneumonia (lung infection), cellulitis (skin infection), and urinary tract infection. Usually, children start to feel better within 2-3 days of regular dosing. Make sure to finish the recommended course of the medicine as stopping the medicine abruptly may lead to ineffective treatment or may even worsen your child’s condition.

How Imox Clo Tablet DT works
Imox Clo Tablet DT contains two active ingredients, Amoxycillin and Cloxacillin. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. On the other hand, the presence of cloxacillin increases the efficiency of this medicine and helps in treating the infections caused by resistant bacteria. By doing so, it kills the infection-causing bacteria and prevents the infection from spreading.

What if I forget to give Imox Clo Tablet DT to my child?
Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it’s almost time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.

In the common cold, the mucus changes its color and thickens up with time, but this does not mean that your child needs antibiotics. Common cold symptoms often last for 7-10 days. In case they fail to clear up within this duration, reach out to your child’s doctor for guidance.
Q. Is Imox Clo Tablet DT safe for children suffering from infectious mononucleosis?
No, do not give this medicine to your child in this case as a high percentage of children with infectious mononucleosis develop a skin rash (erythematous rash) while taking Imox Clo Tablet DT.
Q. Is it safe to give Imox Clo Tablet DT to children suffering from jaundice?
It is advised not to give Imox Clo Tablet DT to children if they have jaundice. The reason being, Imox Clo Tablet DT contains an active ingredient called cloxacillin which can aggravate the symptoms of jaundice in your child.
