Mannitol 20% Infusion is a medicine used in the treatment of acute renal (kidney) failure, cerebral edema (accumulation of excessive fluid in the brain) and to reduce the pressure inside the eyes in a condition called glaucoma.

Mannitol 20% Infusion is used for preventing or treating excess body water in certain kidney conditions, reducing swelling of the brain, or reducing pressure in the eye.

In Acute renal failure

Mannitol 20% Infusion is used to increase urine production in cases of kidney failure. This means it is also used to treat or prevent medical conditions that are caused by an increase in body fluids/water such as recent kidney failure called acute renal (kidney) failure. It is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse and should not be self-administered.

In Cerebral edema (accumulation of excessive fluid in the brain)

Symptoms of brain swelling (cerebral edema) include headache, dizziness, nausea, numbness or weakness, loss of coordination or balance, loss of the ability to see or speak, seizures (fits), memory loss, incontinence, or altered level of consciousness. Mannitol 20% Infusion decreases brain volume by decreasing overall water content in the brain. This helps to reduce the accumulation of excessive fluid in the brain. It helps to relieve these symptoms effectively within a short duration of time and prevents further comoplications.
