This medicine is also given as an empirical antibiotic for infected diarrhea mixed with blood and serious infections like peritonitis.

Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup is a combination of three antibiotics: Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup1, Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup2 and Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup3 which treat diarrhoea.

Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup is an antibiotic medicine given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections such as tooth abscess, gum infection, pneumonia, diarrhea, dysentery, peritonitis, burning sensation while passing urine, and certain genital tract infections. This medicine inhibits the growth of infection-causing bacteria by stopping it from multiplying. You may start seeing an improvement in the infection within 3 to 5 days of regular dosing. But, you must still finish the full course of the medicine and never stop it abruptly by yourself as that may worsen your child’s condition or cause infection recurrence.

How Ofryth MZS Syrup works

Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup is a combination of three active ingredients. While two of its ingredients, namely ofloxacin and metronidazole are antibiotics, simethicone is a gas-absorbing agent that improves gastric tolerability of the combination. The antibiotic ingredients interfere with the genetic material of bacteria by impairing its DNA. This kills the infection-causing bacteria, preventing its growth and stopping the infection. On the other hand, Simethicone binds with the gas bubbles produced as a result of the other two ingredients or as a result of some other problem. By doing so, it aids in the removal of gases and provides relief in stomach pain and bloating.

What if you forget to take Ofryth MZS Syrup?

Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. However, you should skip the dose if the next scheduled dose is near. In case of any confusion, do consult your doctor and do not double the dose to catch up.

Diarrhea is a common side effect of this medicine. If it occurs, make sure your child drinks plenty of water.
Your child may have an altered taste or furry tongue (coating of Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup on tongue) after taking Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help.
Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
Never use this medicine for the common cold and flu as they are caused by viruses and Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup treats only bacterial infections.
Discontinue Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing.
Only give Ofryth MZS 50mg/120mg/10mg Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
