Olmewon H 40 Tablet is a combination of two medicines. It helps to control high blood pressure in different ways. If high blood pressure is not treated it can lead to heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure.
Olmewon H 40 Tablet is a combination of an antihypertensive and a diuretic medicine.

Olmewon H 40 Tablet is a combination of two medicines namely Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. It is generally used when one medicine alone is not controlling your blood pressure effectively. Olmesartan works by relaxing and widening your blood vessels so your blood can flow more easily. This will lower your blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is known as a diuretic (water pill) which increases urine output thereby lowering blood pressure. If your blood pressure is controlled you are less at risk of having a heart attack, stroke, or kidney problems. The medicine must be taken regularly as prescribed to be effective. You do not usually feel any direct benefit from taking this medicine, but it works in the long term to keep you well.

Olmewon H 40 Tablet may also cause symptoms that may indicate high potassium levels in the blood, such as nausea, diarrhea, muscle weakness and change in heart rhythm. Olmewon H 40 Tablet is generally considered safe to be taken for long term. In some cases, long-term use may adversely affect the kidneys and the kidneys may not function as they should. Therefore, your doctor may prescribe regular blood tests to check urea, creatinine and potassium levels to keep a track of how well your kidneys are working.

Your doctor may advise you to stop taking Olmewon H 40 Tablet 24 hours before surgery. This is because Olmewon H 40 Tablet can further reduce your blood pressure when used with anesthetics. So, inform your doctor that you are taking Olmewon H 40 Tablet if you will be given general anesthetics (medicines that put you to sleep) or are scheduled to have any surgery.
