Triplixam 4mg/1.25mg/5mg Tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It works by relaxing the blood vessels and making the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. It also removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body.

It is advised to take Triplixam 4mg/1.25mg/5mg Tablet at a fixed time each day to maintain consistent levels of medicine in the blood. It is suggested to take it at day time to avoid the frequent urination at night. In case you have missed any doses, take it as soon as you remember it. Never skip any doses and finish a full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.

It may cause side effects like headache, dizziness, vertigo, and sleepiness. These are usually mild but let your doctor know if they bother you or last more than a few days. You may be asked for regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function and the levels of salts such as potassium in your blood while taking this medicine. If dizziness happens, avoid driving or attention seeking activity while taking this medicine.

Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease. You must tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You should also let your healthcare team know all other medicines you are taking as they may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

You do not usually feel any direct benefit from taking this medicine, but it works in the long term to keep you well. You should take it regularly as prescribed for this medicine to be most effective, even if you feel better.

How Triplixam Tablet works

Triplixam 4mg/1.25mg/5mg Tablet is a combination of three blood pressure-reducing medicines. Perindopril erbumine is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by reducing stress on the heart and relaxing blood vessel so that blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently. Indapamide is a thiazide diuretic. It lowers blood pressure by removing the extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also works by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing blood vessels which makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. This is how it controls the blood pressure.

Persistent high arterial blood pressure above 120/80 mm HG is termed as pre-hypertension or hypertension, but the point to be emphasized is that this rise in blood pressure is persistent. Transient increase in BP occurs in stress and anxiety and needs to be treated accordingly.
