Urimet 100 SR Tablet works by stopping the growth of the bacteria in the urine that cause urinary tract infections. This medicine usually makes you feel better quite quickly. However, you should continue taking it as long as it is prescribed even when you feel better, to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

How to use Urimet Tablet SR

Consuming alcohol while taking Urimet 100 SR Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).

Pregnancy

Urimet 100 SR Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding

CAUTION

Urimet 100 SR Tablet should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.

Driving

UNSAFE

Urimet 100 SR Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

CAUTION

Urimet 100 SR Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Urimet 100 SR Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Urimet 100 SR Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease, who are unable to pass urine or have high creatinine levels.

Liver

CAUTION

Urimet 100 SR Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Urimet 100 SR Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Urimet 100 SR Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

Having urine infection since about a month. Took several antibiotics after consultation with doctor but they all show effect only for starting 2 days and then that antibiotic doesn't work. I have taken sporidex 500, zefu cv 500, norflox 400, levofloxin, cefodoxime (each taken for atleast 4-5 days). All work for starting two days then no effect and infection starts to increase. Urine culture report is attached. Kindly suggest medication since problem is increasing day by day.

Urimet 100 SR Tablet starts acting quickly, but you will not start feeling better immediately after taking it. It may take a few days (2-3 days) before you see any improvement in your symptoms. If you do not start feeling better within 3 days of starting Urimet 100 SR Tablet or your condition worsens, contact your doctor. It is important to complete the full course of Urimet 100 SR Tablet as advised by your doctor, even if you start feeling better.

What happens if you take Urimet 100 SR Tablet without food?

You should take Urimet 100 SR Tablet with your meal or straightaway after the meal. Taking with food helps in absorption of medicine so that it works better. If you take it without food, you are likely to get an upset stomach. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and loss of appetite may also occur. Therefore, to avoid unpleasant side effects, take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Does Urimet 100 SR Tablet make your urine orange?

Urimet 100 SR Tablet may turn your urine brown or dark yellow in colour. However, you need not worry as this is usually temporary and completely harmless effect. You should inform your doctor if you get vaginal itching or discharge after taking Urimet 100 SR Tablet or soon after stopping it.

Yes, Urimet 100 SR Tablet is a strong antibiotic (or broad spectrum antibiotic), which means that it is effective against a wide variety of urinary bacteria. It is important that Urimet 100 SR Tablet should be given to treat or prevent infections that are proven to be caused by susceptible bacteria. This is usually evaluated by a culture test which demonstrates a range of bacteria which cannot grow in the prence of an antibiotic. Urimet 100 SR Tablet has seen to be effective against UTI caused by Escherichia coli, Enteroccus faecalis, Klebsiella species, Enterobacter species, Staphylococcus species: (eg S. aureus, S. saprophyticus, S. epidermidis). Some strains of Enterobacter and Klebsiella are resistant to Urimet 100 SR Tablet.
