T3 Reverse
Understanding T3 Reverse
What is T3 Reverse?
T3 (triiodothyronine) reverse is a blood test to examine the thyroid function when the T3 hormone in the body becomes inactive. The condition occurs because the T4 (thyroxine) hormone in the body cannot convert into active T3.
This test is prescribed by the doctor when the suspected patient suffers from low metabolism and other symptoms of hypothyroidism like hormone imbalances, constipation, snoring, swollen neck, puffy eyes, and poor memory.
What is T3 Reverse used for?
The test is required because the suspected patient suffers from chronic pain, excessive fatigue, stress, anxiety and depression, weight gain, very low metabolism and all other symptoms of hypothyroidism like hormone imbalances, constipation, snoring and hoarse voice, swollen neck, puffy eyes, slow thinking and poor memory.
Interpreting T3 Reverse results
Interpretations
A positive RT3 result shows high levels of Reverse T3 hormone in the blood thereby indicating the confirmation of the hypothyroidism symptoms due to the ‘hibernation hormone’. The normal range for RT3 in blood is 10-24 ng/dl.
