Understanding Viral Flu Panel (Influenza A & B, H3N2, H1N1, RSV) Qualitative RT-PCR
What is Viral Flu Panel (Influenza A & B, H3N2, H1N1, RSV) Qualitative RT-PCR?
Viral Flu Panel (Influenza A&B, H3N2, H1N1, RSV) Qualitative RT-PCR test helps detect influenza A virus and its subtypes H3N2 and H1N1 (swine flu), influenza B virus and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). These viruses cause respiratory infection (flu). You can get these tests done when you have symptoms such as cough, sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion, headache, and low-grade fever indicative of flu. However, the onset of these symptoms may vary from 1 to 4 days after exposure. Measures such as getting yearly flu vaccine shots, wearing a mask, avoiding exposure with individuals infected with flu virus, maintaining personal hygiene, eating vitamin-C rich foods to boost immunity etc. may help prevent the spread of flu infection.
