Information about Dexorange Syrup
It is used for treating iron-deficiency anemia which can be due to conditions such as hookworm infestation, chronic blood loss, or inadequate intake of iron. It is also recommended to fulfill the iron requirement of the body and prevent anemia during pregnancy and lactation. The syrup is also commonly prescribed to treat anemia caused due to deficiency of Vitamin B12 and folic acid.
Anemia is characterized by a decreased number of red blood cells, which are responsible for carrying oxygen throughout the body. It can lead to serious implications on the health right from impairment in cognitive development to a decreased productivity in adults and children.
It contains iron (in the form of ferric ammonium citrate), cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12), and folic acid (Vitamin B9) as the main ingredients. In addition to the treatment of anemia, this syrup is also used to prevent and treat nutritional deficiencies of iron, Vitamin B12, and folic acid. It is also used to treat lack of appetite, general weakness (fatigue) and to restore iron levels post-surgery. In children, it is used to treat malabsorption as well.
This syrup is generally safe with little or no side effects. If you are taking any other medications or diet supplements, it is best to inform your doctor to avoid drug interaction. Apart from taking this medicine, learn about the food sources of vitamin B-complex (namely, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin B9) along with iron to get enough of these nutrients through diet.
For children: It is advised to take this syrup as directed by the physician since for kids as the dosage is dependent on the type and severity of the condition.
